Pawns.app, the only one here that grew

Two earning mechanisms instead of one, a $5 minimum, and the fastest growth in my stack this quarter. It is also the app whose parentage matters most and gets mentioned least.

Update 19 OCT 2026: September $0.98, down from $1.33. The August growth didn't hold.

Who runs it

Pawns.app is IPRoyal's consumer-facing app, which you can confirm without taking anyone's word for it: the official Docker image is published under the iproyal namespace. IPRoyal is an established proxy provider, so as with EarnApp and Bright Data you are selling to a real company with a real commercial business rather than an anonymous operator.

It was previously branded IPRoyal Pawns. Guides using the old name are describing the same product, which is worth knowing because a lot of them are stale in other ways too.

What it actually did on my connection

Pawns went from $0.68 in July to $1.33 in August, nearly doubling, in a month when Honeygain fell 22%, Repocket fell 37% and Traffmonetizer fell 64%. Across the same period the only other app that grew was EarnApp.

I would not over-read one month on small numbers. Doubling a sum under two dollars is not the same claim as doubling a sum over fifty. But the direction is the opposite of most of the stack, on an identical connection in an identical window, which is the kind of comparison that is usually impossible to make and is the entire reason this site exists.

Update, 19 October 2026: September came in at $0.98, down 26% from $1.33, so August's growth didn't hold for a second month. Over the full quarter it still rose, from $0.68 to $0.98, but EarnApp rose more over the same three months, from $2.98 to $4.62. The heading on this page was true of August. It isn't true of September, and I'm leaving it up with this note rather than rewriting it after the fact.

Install it

Sign up at pawns.app, confirm the email, then either run the desktop app or use the official container. The Docker route authenticates with your account credentials and a device name you choose:

docker run -td --name pawnsapp --restart=on-failure:5 \
  iproyal/pawns-cli:latest \
  -email=your@email.com -password=YOUR_PASSWORD \
  -device-name=geekom-gt1 -device-id=geekom1 \
  -accept-tos

The -accept-tos flag is you agreeing to their terms, so read them rather than pasting past it. Give the device a name and id you will recognise on the dashboard later, because debugging a node called "raspberrypi1" when you own four machines is its own small misery.

The surveys, which are the actual differentiator

Bandwidth is the passive half. Pawns also runs paid surveys, and that is the part worth understanding before you decide what this app is to you.

Surveys are not passive income. They are piecework, they pay by the task, and the effective hourly rate is the thing to judge them on rather than the per-survey figure. Screening out partway through a survey, after answering questions for several minutes, is normal and unpaid. If you are here because you wanted the machine to earn money while you ignored it, the surveys are a different product that happens to share a login.

What they do change is time to payout. The $5 minimum is low to begin with, and surveys get you there faster than bandwidth alone. On a stack where Honeygain makes you wait months for $20, that gap matters more than any per-gigabyte rate.

Questions

What is the minimum payout?

$5, to PayPal or crypto, which is among the lower thresholds in this category and a genuine advantage over the $20 apps.

Can I run it alongside Honeygain and EarnApp?

Yes, and I do. They are all reselling the same IP reputation to an overlapping set of buyers, so the combined total lands well below the sum of their advertised rates. The ledger shows what that actually looks like.

Is it worth running just for the surveys?

Only if you would have done surveys anyway. Judge them on effective hourly rate, not the number on the survey card, and remember that screening out midway is unpaid and common.
